This article sets out to improve how domestic violence advocates respond to CPS. After sketching the historical background of the current situation, it discusses the dilemmas that surround DV relationships with CPS, profiles battered women in the CPS caseload, summarizes what research says about the effects of DV on children, and suggests some practical applications for this knowledge.
